Today is my first official day on the job as MMAA’s Interim Executive Director, and I want you to be one of the first to know my priorities as we embark on this new journey together.

First, let me say how grateful I am for Andy Blevins’ leadership over the past year. He seamlessly guided the formation of the Modern Military Association of America through the merger of the American Military Partner Association and OutServe-SLDN. His impact and dedication to the LGBTQ military and veteran community will continue on, and I’m so thankful for his service to the country and MMAA.

With our incredible staff, board of directors, advisory boards, amazing volunteers, gracious sponsors, generous donors, and remarkable members joined together in this effort, we will continue the momentum this organization has built in advancing fairness and equality for the LGBTQ military and veteran community.

Over the next year, my focus will be to:

Connect: We will promote and build a sense of community with our members and their families.

Engage: We will foster communication and involvement internally and externally about the organization and issues it supports.

Advocate: We will provide advocacy and legal services regarding policies, laws, and practices that align with the mission of the organization.

Educate: We will offer educational programs and support services to the community, our members, and their families.

Each of these priorities is essential for fulfilling MMAA’s mission in education, advocacy and support for the LGBTQ military and veteran community. In the coming weeks, I will share more details regarding these priorities along with information about our exciting new initiatives.

Please know that I am always available to you, our dedicated members, to listen to your thoughts and ideas as I believe that we are stronger as a community when we are together.

Yours in the fight,

Jennifer Dane
