WASHINGTON D.C. – The Modern Military Association of America (MMAA), the Nation’s oldest and largest non-profit supporting LGBTQ+ military members and veterans, has partnered with Trans Family Support Services (TFSS) to advocate for and support the needs of families with transgender individuals.

“With the recent attacks on trans youth across this country, it is imperative that we build partnerships like this one with MMAA,” said Kathie Moehlig, TFSS Executive Director. “Together we will bring the experiences and voices of trans dependents to the table, advancing inclusive policies and ensuring that affirming care is available not only for the service member but their loved ones as well.”

So far 2021 has seen the second, and hopefully final, repeal of the transgender military service ban and a formal policy from the Department of Defense for trans inclusion across the services. Unfortunately, there has also been a dramatic spike in anti-trans legislation throughout the country.

“The anti-trans legislation we are seeing across numerous states poses a significant threat to the health, safety, and well-being of the transgender community, especially youth,” said Jennifer Dane, MMAA Executive Director. “Our mission is to support everyone within our LGBTQ+ military and veteran communities, including dependents, and this partnership is another great alliance that will help us do that.”
