It’s been only a few short days since AMPA and OutServe-SLDN officially combined forces and launched the Modern Military Association of America (MMAA), but your MMAA team is already hard at work in Washington, DC, fighting for you and the LGBTQ military and veteran community.
-
We engaged with Members of the House of Representatives to highlight the importance of passing the Equality Act for our modern military and veteran community. The historic legislation passed through the House of Representatives last week and, when signed into law, would finally provide clear, comprehensive non-discrimination protections to LGBTQ people nationwide. We look forward to continuing these efforts as we move over to the Senate.
-
We were proud to work with Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH-1) on legislation to help ensure our LGBTQ veterans have equitable access to the benefits they earned in service to our nation.
-
We’re working with Members of Congress in both Chambers, to reform the Boards of Corrections for Military and Naval Records, ensuring expedited processes for our Restore Honor, Restore Dignity program. This critically important MMAA program assists service members who were discharged under the now defunct “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law or the prior discriminatory policy.
-
We’re planning several new Storm the Hill events over the next six months, focusing on open transgender service, LGBTQ military youth, and service members living with HIV.
As you can see, we’ve been hard at work for you, and we hope you’ll help us continue this incredibly important work for our modern military and veteran families by making a donation now.
