WASHINGTON, D.C. — Modern Military Association of America, the nation’s leading nonprofit advocating for LGBTQ+ service members, veterans, and their families, has announced Ashley Carothers as its new Executive Director. Interim Executive Director Cathy Marcello will transition to her new role as Senior Vice President of Advocacy and Training.
“I couldn’t be happier to relinquish my interim role as ED to such a stellar selection. It was an honor to temporarily lead this team over the last few months, and I’m excited to begin working on Advocacy full time as Ashley steps in as ED. Ashley has lived this fight firsthand, and she’s got expertise from back in the Outserve-SLDN days all the way through to her work at VA’s Center for Minority Veterans. Ashley is the leader we need for this next chapter, and I can’t wait to get started with her at the helm.”

Family,
I’m truly honored to be the Executive Director of the Modern Military Association of America. Many of you know me from my years within this organization, and it’s that deep connection that makes this moment especially meaningful for me.
I also want to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible staff. Their dedication, resilience, and willingness to step up during this period of transition has kept our mission moving forward.
