There’s no getting around the fact it’s been a really tough year for many, but we also have much to be thankful for. So in that spirit, here are:
4 Things We’re Thankful For This Thanksgiving
- A bright new era for diversity and inclusion in the military is on the horizon. No matter who you voted for, we can all be thankful that the Biden-Harris administration has committed to building a stronger, more inclusive military. We look forward to working with them to reverse the current administration’s unconscionable transgender military ban, change the outdated policies harming service members living with HIV, and ensure LGBTQ military and veteran families have the support they need and deserve.
- 10 years since the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” This December marks 10 years since the repeal of the deeply discriminatory law that inflicted so much harm on the military and destroyed the careers of thousands of American patriots. For the last decade, gay, lesbian and bisexual service members have proven the critics wrong by serving openly and proudly with distinction. We’re planning a big celebration, so keep an eye out for the announcement.
- COVID-19 vaccinations may soon be on their way. With several viable vaccinations in the news recently, we may possibly soon be on the path to recovery from the deadly, global pandemic. While there’s certainly still huge sacrifice and challenges to get through, especially this winter, we can finally see light at the end of the tunnel.
- Each and every one of our members. Last but not least, we are thankful for you — each and every one of our members and supporters who make up this incredible organization. We’re especially grateful for those of you who fund our mission through financial support. Without you, the critical work we do supporting and defending the LGBTQ military and veteran community simply wouldn’t be possible.
