We’re excited to announce our MMAA Pride Month Virtual 5K!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people around the world have been utilizing their own spaces to get healthy.  So in that spirit, we’re inviting you to join us virtually throughout the month of June — anytime and anywhere while practicing social distancing — on your own street, backyard, living room, around your building, on your bike, in a wheelchair or even on a treadmill for a 5K!

The event is designed to promote physical wellness while raising crucial funds in our mission to advance fairness and equality for the LGBTQ military and veteran community.

Race Day Festivities:

We want to be as connected as possible with everyone participating throughout the month, so we ask you to post a photo, video, or live stream of you in your course on social media. If possible, wear your favorite MMAA swag or branch specific t-shirt.

Tracking your distance virtually: Submit your time and track through a photo or apps like Strava, Map my Run, Fitbit, and other fitness tracking apps to info@modernmilitary.org

Registration:

Registration is only $5. Then we ask you, the participant, to get your family, friends, and neighbors to sponsor you for your 5K. Have them add your name to the “Sponsor a Runner / Donate” form under “Message of Support.”

The first 50 individuals to register will receive an MMAA lapel pin.

Rules:

1) Please abide by the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization’s suggestions by wearing a mask if outside your home, washing your hands frequently, and maintaining a social distance of at least 6 feet
2) Follow all traffic laws
3) Be safe
4) Have fun

We’ll award prizes for the following categories:

Most creative course

*Such as around a living room, backyard, or a person’s driveway

Shortest distance course

*Such as a 10-foot circle in the living room or driveway
**While stationary machines are a promoted avenue, they are excluded from this prize

Best Dressed Drag

Best Pride

Most money raised by 5k participant
